Mission Grove Primary School and Children's Centre is located close to the vibrant Walthamstow market. The main school is 104 years old with the Children's centre built in 2008.

The School has recently had a "Good" Ofsted inspection in July 2012. In 2003 the school was amongst the 100 most improved schools in the country. Attainment has improved steadily and in 2010 Read Write Inc. and Fresh start programs were introduced to raise attainment in reading and writing. This has now been implemented successfully and children receive targeted support to meet their individual needs. The school has a robust assessment and data tracking system which includes APP (Assessing Pupils' Progress), AFL (Assessment for Learning), Pupil Profiles, QCA and individual targets to monitor progress and provide support where necessary.

To meet all statutory curriculum requirements, curriculum maps for all classes are reviewed each year to allow for cross curricular and personalised learning. Teachers and subject coordinators meet at the beginning of each academic year to develop a creative curriculum which adheres to statutory requirements and personal needs of individual children. To further enhance the curriculum children have yoga classes, swimming, street dance, cycling proficiency, premier sports, Suntrap, workshops by Artist in residence, gymnastics and lessons with Leyton Orient. Mandarin is taught from Nursery all the way through to Year 6. The school runs a successful Saturday school and offers a wide range of after school activities ranging from arts and crafts, dance, tag rugby, football and cricket.

The children's voice is an integral part of the school, through school council meetings and children conferencing, the views of all children are heard. Parents are invited to coffee mornings to discuss the curriculum, assessments and their views. Sats meetings are held twice a year to provide parents with information about Sats and how to support their children. To determine the attitudes of all parents and children, questionnaires are sent out yearly. These are then analysed by the Senior Leadership Team which contributes to the writing of the School Development Plan. The school celebrates all festivals ensuring that the children are proud of their rich culture. "The school has built on the many outstanding qualities identified at the last inspection". Mission Grove is committed to safeguarding, all staff, have the necessary checks and policies are available from the school.
