Year 2's Hedgehog Extravaganza
This week Year 2 have had amazing time learning all about hedgehogs! We learnt about their super sense of smell through some fun experiments. We tested our sense of smell by sniffing ten different pots filled with a range of foods and other objects. We had to try and decide if the pots were filled with something we could eat or not.
Then we went into the wildlife area and collected some worms. We filed one pot with soil, and one with worms and soil. Then we closed our eyes and smelt the pots to see if we could decide which one had the worms in. Overall we learnt that our sense of smell is nowhere near as good as that of a hedgehog!
We even designed our own hedgehog houses and started to build these ready for when the hedgehogs come out of hibernation in Spring and need somewhere to live. Emre enjoyed the lesson so much he went home and built his very own hedgehog home that you can see in these photos!
