Year 2 STEM week Day 5 Kinglet Class
The final day of STEM week in Kinglet class began with us racing our rockets from yesterday. We decided that we had worked so hard on our rockets that we didn’t want to ruin them with cracked eggs so the eggs got a free pass this time. We took our rockets onto the playground and watched as they flew through the air! Adam and Tajae’s rocket flew the furthest both times despite not having a cone on the top!
When we came back into the classroom we decided to let the chicks have a run around out of their box. The chicks LOVED stretching their legs and running up to say hello to us!
After this Kytaali was kind enough to go to the North Site with Miss Kent where she did some hard work making smoothies for us using a smoothie bike. The bike blends the fruit when you cycle it! She brought the smoothies she made back for us and we enjoyed laughing at the smoothie moustache it left on our faces!
After all of our ‘eggcellent’, ‘eggciting’ fun and ‘eggsperimenting’ this week we ended the week with an egg cook off where we made egg in a cup. We followed the instructions to measure and use the correct amount of ingredients per group. We cut all of the vegetables (peppers and mushrooms) ourselves and cracked the eggs carefully into the bowl so that no shell fell in the mixture. Then we mixed the eggs, milk and vegetables together. We then microwaved the mix to cook them. We predicted how long we thought the eggs should cook for, how many seconds were in one minute and how many seconds that meant our eggs were cooking for.
We have had the most AMAZING time this week and can’t wait until the next STEM week!
