Welcome to Blackbird class' page! Take a look at what we've been up to.
For our topic on Explorers, we got the chance to meet a real life explorer live from the Arctic! He showed us all the clothes he has to wear to stay warm and even took us on a tour around the scientists' village.
For our Science topic, Plants, we cut up different fruits and vegetables to extract the seeds and we are now waiting for them to germinate!
In Nature studies we checked to see if our wildlife area was a good habitat for hedgehogs for our topic on nocturnal animals and then sketched our favourite parts of the wildlife area.
We went on a trip to Walthamstow Pumphouse to see what we could learn about Walthamstow for our Geography topic.
In Maths we have been looking at measurement, we used metre sticks to measure different parts of the playground:
In Topic we were learning about the nurse Mary Seacole. We acted out key scenes from her life.
This term, in Science, we are learning all about habitats.
In Nature Studies, we searched for woodlice and worked out what their ideal habitat is. Then we began creating the perfect habitat for woodlice. Next week, we will find out which Woodlouse Hotel has the most woodlice!
In Art we have been learning about Primary and Secondary colours. We mixed colours and created our own colour wheels.
We have been making Tudor houses for our Great Fire of London topic. We then re-enacted the event by setting fire to them!
