Children's University

Dear Year 5 parents,

You may remember that our Year 5 pupils have been invited to take part in the Children's University. In January the children will be given login details for their accounts and be shown how to begin taking part. Below is a short message for parents from the Children's University.

Hello parents and guardians,

We would like to offer a warm welcome as your child has joined the Education Endowment Fund Children's University (CU) trial. Over the next 2 years EEF will be tracking how participation in Children's University affects pupils attainment and progress. The CU programme focusses on encouraging extra-curricular learning and rewarding children for every hour of learning they do. CU helps children develop key skills in speaking, listening, problem solving, staying positive, aiming high, teamwork, leadership! As well as improving attainment in Maths & English and instilling a love for lifelong learning and a positive identification with school.

Your child's primary school has joined CU and will start engaging in the programme in January 2022. Your child will gain a stamp for every hour of extra-curricular learning they do and this will go towards them graduating in Summer Term. Please let your child's teacher know about any clubs or activities your child goes to so that we can ensure children are gaining stamps for their efforts. Children can also gain stamps from doing accredited online activities as part of the programme.

Your support and encouragement is an essential part of the programme, including supporting your child's creativity and exploration as well as offering a helping hand with some extracurricular activity. Your enthusiasm will have a big impact on your child's development with the programme. See below for a short presentation we recorded with more information on the programme and how you can support your child, and please click here to watch our YouTube video explaining the programme in more depth.

We are looking forward to getting started in January and hope your child is excited to start earning stamps!

Kind regards,
Children's University- East London
