Week beginning 1st, November 2021

We have had a busy start to this half-term. On Monday, we had an Eco assembly ahead of COP26 week. The children were excited and engaged during the assembly and are looking forward to looks of work on climate change next week.

The children spent Friday afternoon as archaeologists and were carefully looking for clues for our new topic. The children uncovered a variety of animal skeletons and then were tasked with the job of discussing which animal it may belong to.

Sports this week

On Tuesday afternoon Sammya and other children at Mission Grove  represented the school at a curling event in Leytonstone, they had a great time.

On Thursday morning, Abbie and Aliya represented Mission Grove at a year 3 and 4 girls football tournament. Great fun was had by all.

Come back next week when we will tell you all about our trip to the cinema, and we will even have some film reviews to share with you!

Half-term has finally arrived! We have had another busy and fun filled week here in Grouse class. The children have been designing, building and testing out our flood proof houses. We have also made our own mini ecosystems. The children have an observation sheet that they can complete over the half-term.

Here are our houses:

In literacy, we have been learning about the life of Harriet Tubman. We have some great diary entries and some nice poems about her journey to freedom.

Over the half-term there is an ongoing battle between the year 3 classes. Who will be the overall winner? Earn as many coins as you can on TT Rock Stars to help Grouse class win battle of the Bands.

It has been great to see the children using TT Rock Stars much more at home now, this week I have handed out so many certificates for new rock statuses. Let's keep it up!

Week 6 was finally here! It was time for our long awaited trip to Kew Gardens and we were so excited. We started our Wednesday morning by walking over to the South Site and heading to Walthamstow Queens Road to get our train. It was a nice journey to Kew and we kept ourselves entertained by trying to remember as many tropical plants as we could. Miss Harper even gave us a map of Kew Gardens and we used our grid references to help us locate where we would be visiting. Finally... we arrived! Here are some photos of our trip but you can check out the full gallery here. We were so excited to be on a train again!

This weekend there is a battle between the year 3 classes. The winner will be announced on Monday.

This week we have been focussing on mindfulness and being happy. We have spoken about what makes us happy and have been using our senses to discover what around us makes us happy. The children have written some wonderful poems to show what happiness is to them.
