At Mission Grove Primary, we pride ourselves on how much our children enjoy reading; as a staff, we regularly encourage the enjoyment of reading, as well as presenting it as a tool for learning.
Both the staff and children have been involved in creating a diverse and stimulating library, in which children are free to take charge of their own learning by using the wide range of books for research purposes. We also have a variety of genres, such as poems, myths and legends, traditional stories and fiction from different cultures, for children to enjoy in a peaceful environment. We also have a fantastic mix of story sacks, including puppets and various other props, to encourage the budding actors amongst us, as well as supporting our EAL children.
Classes have a weekly timetabled slot, whilst children are free to use the library at lunchtimes.
We hold termly book fairs at Mission Grove Primary, which are always very popular; any commission raised goes towards extra books for the school.
If you are interested in listening to some of the children read, please leave a message at reception for Miss Beath.
