Sparrow class - Year 1
Welcome to our parents and carers!
This is our class page which will have regular updates on our learning and information for parents to know. Don't forget to keep an eye on our photo albums in the 'Home Learning Gallery.'
Ms Claire and I were so proud to see how smoothly the Sparrows transitioned into their Year 1 class. It did not take long for them to follow our new routines and class rules. It was also fantastic to see so many Sparrows achieve a certificate for reaching gold during their first week!
Well done to...Stanley, Hasret, Zayan, Sofia H, Roman, Maliha, Ali Haydar, Miray and Angel!
Book exchange day. Every Tuesday your child will be taking home an appropriately levelled text. Please write a short comment in their reading record. It is vital that you read with your child on a daily basis and fuel their enthusiasm and love for reading.
We will be having PE on Wednesdays. Please remember to send your child in school wearing their PE kit on this day. The kit consists of black shorts/black jogging bottoms, white t-shirt and plimsolls.
We have some exciting topics this year: Food, Glorious Food, Amazing Adventures, Toys, Our Perfect Planet, The Rainforest and Under the Sea.
We will be practising our times tables regularly in class. Please can you support your child at home with these. Each child has a Numbots login to practise their times tables at home. If you need a reminder, please let me know.
Our focus book for the week was called 'Happy.' Related to the book, children were involved with activities around how they were feeling and what things make them feel a certain way. It was heartwarming to hear that many children missed coming to school and learning new things. "Now, I'm really, really happy!" - Miray
|"I'm sitting on top of my house, I'm happy because there is a rainbow over me." - Emma|
Just to remind you that it is 'Jeans for Genes' day this Friday 17th September 2021. Children can dress in denim and bring in a small donation to help fundraise for children and families affected by genetic disorders.
